Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What venues are you planning to use?
Initially we are planning to use the fantastic facilities at Shrewsbury School, including the Barnes Theatre and Maidment Hall, as well as Wrekin College in Wellington, The Edge Arts Centre in Much Wenlock and smaller local venues such as The Hive and pub performance spaces around Shropshire.
Looking further ahead, we hope to perform at Theatre Severn and Telford Theatre.
What kind of ticket prices are you thinking?
This really does depend on the event. Our aim is always to provide a high quality product that offers genuine value for money. As a guide:
Plays and musicals from £20
Charity concerts from £15
Some events may have a low entry fee with fundraising activities
How do I buy tickets?
Our official ticketing partner is Stage Stubs. You can find our ticketing page at stagestubs.com/phoenix-productions-shropshire
Will productions be suitable for all ages?
This will vary depending on the production and venue. Our aim is to provide a varied programme that suits as broad a range of audiences as possible. It is important to us that our productions sit outside what is already being offered in Shropshire, so expect the unexpected!
How do I find out about upcoming shows?
The best ways to stay in the loop are to follow our Facebook and Instagram pages, or to join as a Friend of Phoenix and be added to our mailing list. Visit the Friends page on this website for more details.
How do I get involved?
Simply complete our expression of interest form via the link below and we will be in touch. Following a company audition and becoming a Performing Friend of Phoenix, you will be invited to audition for our individual productions.
How does the audition process work?
Once you have completed a company audition, been accepted and become a Performing Friend of Phoenix, you will be invited to audition for our productions. Each production will have a launch event outlining the specific audition requirements.
Do you accept performers of all experience levels?
We welcome a mix of both experienced and developing performers. While we are keen to attract seasoned performers to raise production standards, we are equally passionate about nurturing emerging talent that can learn and grow with us.
Is there a minimum age for performers?
We are primarily focused on performers aged 21 and over, however we are keen to involve younger performers who show real promise.
Do performers need to be based in Shropshire?
No, but performers do need to be prepared to travel, as most, if not all rehearsals will take place in and around Shrewsbury.
Are performing roles paid?
Performing roles are voluntary. Performers are required to become a Performing Friend of Phoenix and contribute a show fee to help support the ongoing costs of our productions.
What disciplines are you looking for?
We are looking for actors, singers and dancers, as we plan to regularly stage both plays and musicals. The disciplines required will vary from production to production.
Do volunteers need experience?
Experience is preferred, but we are very open to working with enthusiastic individuals who have a keen interest to learn and develop their skills.
Is there a minimum time commitment?
There is no fixed minimum, however production team volunteers will be provided with a schedule and will be expected to attend meetings, rehearsals and performances as outlined for each production.
Are volunteer roles available for every production?
Yes. We need enthusiastic volunteers for all major productions across areas including costume, technical, production support and stage management.
Do volunteers get to see the shows for free?
As volunteers are heavily involved in the productions themselves, complimentary tickets are not offered. However, volunteers are warmly encouraged to join our Volunteer Friends of Phoenix to get even more involved in our community.
Is there a minimum age for volunteers?
Volunteers must be aged 16 or over and have left school.
Are there roles that require specific qualifications or experience?
For roles involving sound or lighting design and operation, we would need to understand your relevant experience to ensure you have the skills to meet our standards.
How do I sign up to volunteer?
You can register your interest using the expression of interest form below
Do volunteers receive any training or support?
We will endeavour to support and train willing volunteers, both to develop the company's skillset and to help you build your own experience and CV.
